Resilience Coaching

A Resilience Coach supports you to grow your life, your work and your relationships in a way that builds for you an increasing sense of personal satisfaction, purpose and effectiveness - in an increasingly volatile world.

Resilience Coaching extends the normal range of a coaching relationship into two wings which I feel to be critical in these times of change:

• your ability to transact – to connect and relate to yourself and others. How do you nurture this ability to give yourself ever more real connection and support? And how able are you to transact with those that have leverage in your life – to negotiate masterfully so that everyone wins – when circumstances keep shifting?

• your ability to adapt – to recognize and anticipate signals of change in your environ¬ment, and to steward the core competencies and resources that you and your grandchildren will need into the future. Our world is evolving at an accelerating rate; old responses may no longer apply. How do you equip yourself to adapt to the unknown, the unknowable?

Coaching is listening, reflecting and encouraging purposeful enquiry towards developing a rewarding life experience. The Resilience wings seek to extend this enquiry – to your fluidity in relating with those that matter to you, and to your adaptive muscle for the physical changes that are now emerging.

It starts where you are – what works in your life right now, what doesn’t. It approaches symptoms – physical, relationship or situational – as guides to the work to be done. It sees conflict as a call to intimacy; is as interested in process as in specific outcomes; and seeks to explore the insights of the various polarities in any situation rather than figure out which is right. And it also respects the calls of the moment: if a current situation requires action, then we will together explore which action will lead to more resilience, more flow, more ease and effectiveness in the long term.

Resilience Coaching is guided by the words of the Hopi Prophecy (see below): you are the leader you (and the planet) have been waiting for. You will be encouraged to assume full responsibility for all aspects of your life – only from that stance can you realistically move into a position of resilient power . . and relax.

A question to ask while you consider engaging in a coaching relationship: What am I now willing to do, different to what I did before, that will make me more open to the change that wants to come through me?

Jeremy Burnham has been a professional counsellor, coach and trainer for nearly three decades (before that he farmed in several countries). He brings experience in Rebirthing (he brought breath¬work to this country in 1980), several bodywork modalities, ProcessWork and the Natural Step environmental sustainability model.

Coaching Sessions: a session lasts 50 minutes, and a coaching unit is one month, which includes three face-to-face sessions and reasonable telephone contact in between. A coaching unit will normally also include some homework.

I would meet with you for 50 minutes for a free consultation to be clear that we both understand the parameters of our work together. Thereafter the fee is R2000 per monthly unit. We may in addition feel that breath- and/or body-work is called for, in which case there is a further charge of R500/hour.

Hopi Prophecy
You have been telling people that this is the eleventh hour.
Now you must go back and tell them this is the hour.
And there are things to be considered:
Where are you living?
What are you doing?
What are your relationships?
Are you in right relation?
Where is your water?
Know your garden.
It is time to speak your truth.
Create your community.
Be good to each other.
And do not look outside yourself for the leader.

This could be a good time! There is a river flowing now very fast. It is so great and swift that there are people who will be afraid. They will try to hold on to the shore. They will feel that they are being torn apart and they will suffer greatly. Know the river has its’ destination.

The elders say we must let go of the shore, push into the middle of the river, keep our eyes open and our heads above the water. See who is in there with you and celebrate!

At this time in history, we are to take nothing personally, least of all ourselves. For the moment that we do, our spiritual growth and journey comes to a halt. The time of the lone wolf is over.

Gather yourselves! Banish the word struggle from your attitude and vocabulary. All that we do now must be done in sacred manner and in celebration.
